20 Years of Photography

Since the early 2000s, Lin Zhipeng, better known as No. 223, has established himself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Chinese photography.

Inspired by the raw energy of large cities, he captures the intensity of urban youth, their desires, their fragilities and their hard-won freedom in intimate moments. Through colour-saturated portraits and scenes steeped in eroticism, melancholy or exuberance, he composes a visual chronicle in which the moment becomes manifest.

This retrospective, which celebrates twenty years of creation, reveals a universe that is both poetic and provocative, marked by the tension between carnal intensity and existential quest. Between bursts of sensuality and suspended silences, the work of No. 223 bears witness to two decades of artistic exploration where photography and life merge in an aesthetic of freedom.
